Decorative Concrete Overlay is a solid color thin concrete cement based product that go over existing concrete for decorative reasons or repairs. Overlays can be applied as thin troweled applied decorative finish or poured up 3/4″ cementitious overlay depending on the desired finish.
Micro-cement application, however, is only as good as the substrate it is being applied to. If the concrete is cracked or coming up, the overlay can also break and delaminate. In that case, concrete replacement should be the only option.
There are ways to strengthen or treat existing concrete, however, because the ground moves depending on weather conditions, and moisture, there are never any guarantees the overlay will delaminate or crack. Surface preparation and crack repair are essential for a decorative concrete overlay application.
